It's not often (read: never) that I actually follow through with any of the amazing ideas I pin on Pinterest, but this particular one is a tradition I am more than a little excited about. A birthday interview - sitting down each year on your child's birthday and asking them questions about themselves. Giving you a chance to compare their answers from year to year and for me, sitting down one on one with my daughter and getting to know her a little better. We've spent a lot of time together over the last four years, but this was a unique experience for us - sitting across from eachother asking her questions about herself and not about concepts or things she's learning. She loved it and I loved it - I kept adding questions because we were having so much fun! I tried to play it like the Newlywed Game, seeing if I could guess her answers before she could say them, but Teagan's a girl that will always keep me guessing. Who'd have known that Happy Birthday is her favourite TV show? I can't even imagine the fun we will have looking back at these over the years and giggling at some of the answers and marveling at how much she has grown. It's simultaneously thrilling and depressing. Here's a sneak peek of my darling little Teagan at 4.
Here she is on her birthday, in front of her new play kitchen. (Shhh! Don't tell!)
