Parents, you've been there. Perfect strangers passing comments on your child. Comments that have been made hundreds of times before. I nod along politely as I usually can't come up with anything to say, witty or otherwise. Because people (friends and strangers alike) tend to say the same things about Teagan, I thought it would be fun for her to look back and read about some of those compliments and observations to see what set her apart as a beautiful little baby.
Here's just a glimpse of what people having been saying since she was born:
THE HAIR
"<gasp!>" Unfortunately this was the doctor. Then an uncomfortable amount of silence from someone who's just sliced open my uterus, and... "Wow! She's got a lot of blonde hair!" Giant sigh of relief from me.
The hair comments have continued over the past two years.
"Wow! It's SO long!"
"It's SO blonde!"
THE CHEEKS
"Ooh, I could just squeeze those cheeks all day!" (Okay, that one's me.)
"What is she eating? Oh, it's just her cheeks."
"Those droopy cheeks are darling."
"Look at those cheeks!"
THE EYES
"WOW! They're SO blue!" over and over and over
THE LIPS
"I wish I had lips like that."
"They're so full and heart shaped!"
THE SKIN
"She's so fair."
"I thought my kid was pasty."
"I've never seen a baby so white!"
I see THIS in her future (in a tasteful one piece):
THE HEIGHT - hands down, the most commonly occurring
It's typically just Teagan and I out and about during the day, so people tend to be a little shocked when they see how tall she is, because clearly she doesn't get it from me.
"SHE'S HUGE!"
"I can't believe she's only two! Are you sure?"
"She is SO tall."
"How tall IS she?"
And that's a little snapshot for Little T so she can find out what people are saying about her. And they say a lot.
